Murder Mystery 2 guide: how to win as every role
Innocent, Sheriff and Murderer strategy, coin farming, godly weapons and how to trade without getting scammed.
5 min readMurder Mystery 2 gives you one of three roles each round and around two minutes to use it. Innocent, Sheriff or Murderer. The game is short enough that most players never think about strategy, which is exactly why thinking about it wins rounds.
Playing Innocent
You have no weapon, so your job is to survive and to be useful to the Sheriff. Stay in groups. The Murderer avoids killing in front of witnesses because it identifies them instantly, so a crowd is genuinely safer than a clever hiding spot.
Collect coins while you do it. They are the game's currency and the only way to earn better weapons without trading, and standing still contributes nothing anyway. Watch who moves oddly: players who follow one person, who break away from groups, or who happen to be nearby every time someone dies.
Playing Sheriff
You have the only gun and you get one meaningful mistake. Take a position with clear sightlines but move regularly, because a Sheriff who stays put is a Sheriff the Murderer can plan around.
Do not shoot on suspicion. Killing an Innocent ends your round and hands the game to the Murderer, so wait until you have actually seen a kill or the behaviour is unmistakable. Calm aim beats fast aim here more than in almost any other Roblox game.
Playing Murderer
The knife is not the strength, the disguise is. Do not kill the first person you find. Move like an Innocent for the opening seconds, collect coins, follow the crowd, and pick someone who has drifted away from the group.
Killing in the open in front of three people identifies you immediately and the Sheriff will end the round. Patience is worth more than aim on this side.
Weapons and trading
Godly weapons are the collectible tier and the reason the trading economy exists. Values shift constantly and there is no in-game price guide, which is precisely what scammers rely on.
- Check current values before agreeing to anything, not during the trade.
- Be suspicious of urgency. Nobody with a fair offer needs you to accept right now.
- Rarity and demand are different things. A rare item nobody wants trades badly.
Why ping decides rounds here
MM2 is unusually unforgiving of delay. Your screen shows other players where they last were; the server decides whether your shot landed. At 180ms of ping, the position you aimed at is nearly a fifth of a second stale, and a sprinting player has moved well past it. You did hit what you saw, and the server saw something else.
Illustrative. Your actual numbers depend on where you are and which Roblox data centre you land in. The ping test measures both.
This is why lower ping players seem to win trades they should not. They are not reacting faster, their view is simply closer to the truth.
